HowEMPVote is an iOS app operated by PRAESI Technologies Ltd ("PRAESI", "we"). It shows how Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted in plenary roll-call votes. This policy explains what information the app and this website handle.
In short: HowEMPVote has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app does not collect personal data.
1. Information stored on your device
Votes you save, your chosen country, and your filter and sort settings. iOS may also keep standard temporary copies of downloaded public vote data to speed up loading. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
2. Network requests the app makes
Vote data and MEP photos: the app downloads public records directly from HowTheyVote.eu, which publishes the European Parliament's official roll-call votes under the Open Database License (ODbL). The requests carry no account, device or advertising identifier. Like any web server, HowTheyVote.eu receives your IP address and the time of each request; we do not receive or keep this information, and HowTheyVote.eu's own privacy terms apply to it.
Vote summaries: when you open a vote, the app downloads the European Parliament's official summary of it from the Parliament's Legislative Observatory (oeil.europarl.europa.eu). These requests carry no identifier either; the European Parliament's own privacy policy applies to them.
On supported iPhones, Apple Intelligence shortens that official summary into a few plain sentences entirely on your device. The text is not sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else.
Links you tap, such as a vote's page on HowTheyVote.eu or an official source, open in your browser and are covered by that website's own privacy policy.
3. Support requests
If you contact us through the HowEMPVote support page or by email, we use your name, email address, device details and message only to answer you, and keep them only as long as needed to handle your request. The support form on this website is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
4. Security
All network communication uses HTTPS. The app does not allow insecure connections.
5. Children
HowEMPVote is a general-audience civic information app and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
6. Your rights
We hold no personal data from the app, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. You can ask us at any time to access or delete support correspondence. You may also complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus.
7. Independence
HowEMPVote is an independent app and is not affiliated with the European Parliament or HowTheyVote.eu.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
